Pokemon Black and White version 2
Written by Brian MurdochPokémon fans are talking all over this world this morning about the announcement of the next Pokémon RPG game. Just to mix things up and not just put black and white in the same tin of paint and call it grey, they have named the sequel Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2.
When reading the news I read that it was coming out on the Nintendo 3DS with the absence of the Nintendo DS next to it. This gave me the thought that it might be in 3D, with it seems most fans really want. Ok, what we really want it a Pokémon RPG game like Final Fantasy XIII-2, but that is even farther away than 3D. The game is coming out for the Nintendo DS and can be played on the Nintendo 3DS in 2D.
The game has a release date in Japan for June 2012 and there is only news that it is coming to the US. Nothing for the Europe region yet, but there is no way they cannot have it for us too. If they don’t then I’m moving!
Update: The UK release date will be in Autumn 2012. That's a almost sure that it will be in South Africa for Spring 2012. I'll try confirm that.
Who's up for a Mario Party?
Written by Brian MurdochRivals become team mates to battle Bowser in Mario Party™ 9 coming to Wii™
So you thought the party season was over? Well, it’s only just begun as Mario and friends are back in an all-new entertaining family board game, as Mario Party™ 9 launches in South Africa for Wii™ on 9th March 2012. The latest installment in the ever-popular Mario Party™ franchise, introduces all-new game modes, battles against bosses and playable characters from the Mushroom Kingdom, making Mario Party 9 an event that everyone will want to be a part of.
The latest addition to the Mario Party series encourages you to think one step ahead of your opponents, to collect the most Mini Stars and defeat Bowser. Bowser and his buddies have stolen all the Mini Stars in the sky and it is up to you to achieve the ultimate goal of winning them all back, in order to become the Super Star.
Party Adventure is a new board game mode, which rewrites the Mario Party rulebook, by allowing four people to move through the board in one vehicle. Players take turns as Captain of the vehicle, by hitting Dice Blocks to move the party forward, hoping to land on lucky spaces. The vehicles also help to streamline game play and keep everyone involved in the action. New strategies include find the best routes and positions during your turn, while also pushing your opponents into trickier spots. This game mode challenges you to work with and against your rivals to compete in exciting Mini games to get the stolen Mini Stars back from Bowser, and restore the shimmering night sky.
Mario Party 9 includes 80 brand new Mini games, accessible to all Mario fans and which will find players making pizzas, escaping haunted mansions, and even racing snowmobiles. When playing on a board, the type of space the vehicle lands on determines what type of Mini game is played.
Boss Battle is a brand new Mini game where up to four players must put their differences aside and combine their powers to defeat a series of classic Mario boss characters to collect Mini Stars, leading to a final showdown with Mario’s ultimate nemesis, Bowser. Don’t be fooled into thinking this is a team game though, while you may need to work together to defeat the bosses, you will win Mini Stars depending on your ranking and the amount of damage you have dealt to each boss. Deliver the final blow for a bonus that increases your chances to win.
New Mini game modes also allow you to play Mini games without having to complete a board, ensuring you can always enjoy the action, as and when, you like. You and up to three of your friends and family can hone your skills at any Mini game in Free Play mode, or try the Extras mode that includes Goomba Bowling and the puzzle-based Castle Clearout.
Mario Party 9 features an array of your favourite Mario characters from the Mushroom Kingdom, as well as introducing a few characters, which are completely new to the Mario Party series. Choose your favourite and keep the rivalry between you and your friends alive as in Mario Party 9 you don’t have to play against the computer in multiplayer - in the board game or the Mini games – and choose to play with up to three of your friends.
With a host of new game options, characters and 80 new Mini games to master, all you have to do now is decide when to host your Mario party. Mario Party 9 launches in South Africa on 9th March 2012, only on Wii.
Mario Party 9 for Wii will be available for purchase from selected retailers at R499 RRP.

Nintendo games are always the same price even months after the game has come out. This shows the great quality of the game but do people talk about it and does it sell that much more? Iwata is talking about giving Super Mario 3D Land and bringing DLC through the new services that are available to the new upcoming Nintendo Network.
“Even if the game had the sales potential to other new consumers, they rarely actually bought it because the consumers who already had bought it would never talk about it again and the game would be considered an old one,” explained Iwata.
Another example is the Professor Layton series. So person buys the latest Prof Layton and finishes it. Then hits the weekly puzzles that are update to the game via “DLC” that same person then calculates the amount of weeks since the launch of an older title and buys it to go through the game and all those puzzles. All through this process talking about the wonderful features and sharing puzzles with others.
Iwata continues, “Having said that, what if we could provide add-on content through the network? ... This is the idea of supplying new stages to Super Mario users who want to play the game more but have completed the game and lost interest in the existing stages. This will not only give us new profits but will lengthen the life of a product, in that it will never be out of fashion and can keep attracting public attention as long as many people play it.”
Score for everyone! Good titles and great ideas that benefit us the gamers. Life’s great with a Nintendo 3DS.
Resident Evil Revelations hits the shelves today South African’s so go out and get the extra piece to your 3DS pie! The latest Resident Evil game comes separately and bundled with the Circle Pad Pro accessory for the 3DS. When shopping for mine I almost bought the standalone version and then realized, “No TakeALot that’s too cheap!”
For those of you that have downloaded and played the demo you will have realised that this game is too good not to get, and that the Circle Pad Pro is really required to have a proper gaming experience with the game. For those of you thinking that the price will drop, I’m not so sure, this might be just like a Mario game that never drops its price.
Resident Evil Revelations heralds a return to classic Resident Evil gameplay and is packed with terrifying moments and an intense canon storyline, all in stunning 3D. Set in 2005, Resident Evil Revelations contains new content that answers questions and reveals truths from the main Resident Evil storyline between Resident Evil 4™ and Resident Evil 5™.
I was worried that the Wii U might be coming out this year March, only a year from the 3DS launch, but happy about the new announcement. The Wii U will be launching ready for Christmas 2012. The reason that I was worried was the talk with the local distributors and them not knowing when the date was. Not that normal “I have no comment (but I just can’t tell you now because its 2 months away)”, an actual “they have not told us yet :( “. I want South Africa to stay on its UK release schedule or before.
This will give Nintendo and the 3rd party’s time to work on the controller and make the improvements that are needed to make it the best gaming console in the world! (echo vote needed for those last few words).
No confirmation from the local distributors, but I’ll let you know when it is confirmed. Don’t worry too much; I’m sure it will come out at the same time. You’ll have your Wii U for Christmas.
