New overview trailer for Nintendo Switch Sports

March 31, 2022

Earlier today, Nintendo revealed an extended overview trailer (just over 5-minutes long) that gave us some more details about the upcoming sequel to the megahit Wii Sports – Switch Sports. The new trailer takes a deeper dive into how Volley Ball, Badminton, Tennis, Bowling, Soccer and Chambara will work.

As we know there’s a big focus on the JoyCon motion controls for each game and the ability to enjoy the titles with friends and family both locally (1-4 players on a Switch) or online. While the video demonstrates the basics for each game – the most interesting features for me were the leg-strap functionality for the soccer (which they had shown off before), the fun-looking “obstacle-filled special lanes” for the bowling and the pro-league rankings. I’m very keen to see how intuitive the leg-strap kicking will be (although we’ll have to wait for later summer (northern hemisphere) update to test that out. Golf will also be added in a later Autumn update.

We tried out the online test demo earlier this year and had quite a lot of fun so I can’t wait to try out the full game with friends and family in a month’s time. And for those of you that were missing the old Mii look – the video also showed off multiple customisation options (some of which can be unlocked) and confirmed that you will be able to use your Mii character. The game is launching next month (29 April 2022).
