Earlier today (03 August) we got another Pokémon Presents video showcase and while there were some smaller announcements the big news was all about Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. As explained in the official news release (which has all the details and is worth checking out) the presentation started off with “more details about the 2022 Pokémon World Championships, which are being held August 18–21, 2022, in London, England” and included “updates for Pokémon GO, Pokémon UNITE, and Pokémon Café ReMix, along with a brief teaser for Pokémon Masters EX hinting at some exciting upcoming features.”
However, as expected it was Scarlet and Violet that really caught the eye and while we won’t go into all the details announced here a 5 standout revelations:
1. Koraidon and Miraidon
In a new twist, this time around the legendaries will be available early on and can each transform into motorbikes, ocean-craft and gliders – meaning travelling across Paldea looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun
2. New Pokémon
While we always expect some new regional forms and even a few brand new Pokémon – the Paldean Wooper, Icy Cetitan and puppy-like Fidough definitely stole the show!
3. Enhanced Co-op Play
Not only will the new games feature adventuring with friends, but you can also cooperate “to beat Tera Pokémon in Tera Raid Battles, and sometimes even test your skills against each other”.
4. Three journeys
In this grand open-world RPG, you’ll be a new academy student taking part in a special “Treasure Hunt” study and not only will you be able to take on the traditional eight Pokémon Gyms quest, but there are also two other storylines to look forward to too!
5. Terastal phenomenon
Talk about shinies! In Paldea the Terastal phenomenon not only means your Pokémon will look like brilliant gemstones but depending on their Tera Type, your electric Pikachu may suddenly be able to pull off a flying type move to surprise and defeat opponents
