Earlier today (7 February 2023) Nintendo revealed their latest sales figures and the numbers for this little hybrid console that could continue to astound and amaze. According to the report, the Nintendo Switch has officially sold over 122.5 million units. That means it is now the third best-selling console of all time, having outsold both the era-defining GameBoy and the uber-successful PS4. The two consoles in the top spots are the Nintendo DS and the PS2 – and given that the Switch shows no sign of slowing down who knows if it will eventually overtake those two as well.
Along with the epic hardware numbers, the Nintendo Switch now boasts nearly a billion units sold in terms of software with standout mentions going to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (52 Million), Animal Crossing: New Horizons (42.59 Million) and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (30.44 Million). This report also confirmed that despite its obvious graphical performance issues, Pokémon Scarlet/Violet are well on their way to being one of the fastest-selling titles having hit the ridiculous mark of 20.61 Million in sales in less than 2 months!
