Pokémon Legends: ZA – Mega Dimension DLC is a confident and enjoyable expansion that builds directly on the strongest ideas of the base game. Rather than simply adding more content for the sake of it, Mega Dimension deepens Mega Evolution, refines combat, and expands the narrative in meaningful ways. While it doesn’t quite push far enough to earn an “Great” score, it remains a really good piece of DLC that fans of Pokémon Legends: Z-A should not miss.

Mega Evolution has always been one of the most exciting ideas introduced in the Pokémon series, and Mega Dimension reinforces just how much potential it still holds. Rather than treating Mega Evolution as a simple power boost, the DLC frames it as something volatile and dangerous, capable of warping the world itself. The Mega Dimension zones feel unstable and unpredictable, reinforcing the idea that this power comes at a cost.

Mega Lucario, on theother hand, rewards precision and positioning, acting as a tactical powerhouse that can control the flow of longer encounters. Together, they showcase how Mega Evolution now directly shapes combat style rather than simply boosting stats.

A deeper look into Lumiose City’s fractured reality

Narratively, Mega Dimension fits seamlessly into the foundation laid by the base game. The story once again revolves around rogue Mega Evolution, but this time on a much larger and more threatening scale. Returning characters such as Emma and members of Team MZ are given meaningful development. New characters introduced through the DLC add fresh perspectives on the ethics of Mega Evolution, giving the story a surprisingly thoughtful edge.

Evolutions, challenging encounters, and expanded progression systems. For players deeply invested in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the DLC feels worthwhile and rewarding. However, the pricing does feel slightly high for an expansion that doesn’t fully explore every strong idea it introduces. This balance of quality and restraint ultimately supports the 7/10 score.

For players expecting an entirely fresh experience, that sense of repetition and time-gating could be frustrating, but for those who enjoy squeezing every ounce of value out of Pokémon
systems and grinding toward high-level encounters and completion goals, there’s still plenty of fun to be found beneath the surface.
