Switch Sports Online Playtest Registrations Are Now Open

February 16, 2022

Do you remember Wii Sports? Well, if you ever owned a Wii or played on the console odds are you played Wii Sports. It came bundled with the console in most places and total sales reach well into the 82 Million mark. It was a cultural phenomenon bringing people of all ages together (many of which didn’t really play video games)! And in case you missed it – the Nintendo Switch will be getting a sequel on the 29th of April 2022. You’ll be able to play locally with friends and family of course, but Nintendo Switch Sports will also be getting a big online component. However, Nintendo has had a bit of a bumpy ride when it comes to online and so there will be an Online PLaytest this weekend (19 and 20 Feburary).

Register now

Registration was officially opened earlier today and if you’re a Nintendo Switch Online subscriber and want to sign up and see what the new game will be like check the site here and be quick because registration could close at any time. However, be sure to read all the fine print because in a rather confusing move Nintendo doesn’t want you sharing anything about your experience online. The site states:

By registering to participate in the Online Play Test, you agree not to share information about the Online Play Test publicly, including the sharing of screenshots or video footage from the game on social media.

So, make of that what you will. Oh, and remember… Miis are a thing of the past too. I actually like the new design but I know many will be sad to lose the old-school designs.

And talking about Sports – remember Mario Strikers: Battle League launches in June – check out the details here.
