After the Nintendo Direct Mini Partner showcase finally gave us official news about Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope, today we got a deeper look at the stunning new adventure, led by creative director Davide Soliani, during Ubisoft’s special Showcase for the game (which you can watch in full here). The game’s visuals really look like they came out of Nintendo’s own Mario development team. However, on top of that – today’s presentation also outlined how the gameplay has been expanded resulting in what the team are calling a “tactical adventure”. The turn-based strategy battle elements of the last game have been amplified (no grids) and now seem to be interspersed with sections of some basic puzzle exploration and action-based adventuring.
As the team takes on the sequel’s new big baddy “Cursa” you can also look forward to adding Bowser, Rabbid Rosalina and the punky sword-wielding Rabbid Edge to your roster. However, arguably the biggest revelation from the showcase was the news that the music composing team behind Sparks Of Hope will boast a stellar trio of familiar names: Grant Kirkhope, Gareth Coker, and Yoko Shimomura. And if that wasn’t enough, to show how important this series is to Nintendo, Shinya Takashi made an appearance and introduced the final trailer.
We’re definitely looking forward to this one! Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope launches on 20 October 2022.
