Direct mini Recap: Mario + Rabbids, Portal & Persona!

Nintendo held a somewhat unexpected partner showcase yesterday. While the mini-Direct obviously didn’t have any first-party content – there was still a lot to enjoy and believe it or not even Mario managed to make an appearance! Here is a quick runthrough of all the major announcements, reveals and recaps…

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

NieR:Automata The End of YoRHa Edition

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes

Surreal murder mystery puzzle adventure – Launching first for consoles on the Nintendo Switch in 2023.

10 Megaman Battle Network games originally released on GBA are coming to the Switch! Includes a gallery with over 1000 illustrations and a music collection of over 150 series songs. Launches 2023.


A remake of Pac-Man World! Save the PacFam – Launches 26 August 2023.


A fawn and wolf cub must work together to find their way home in this unique environmental puzzle-based black and white world. Completely text-free story with local and online co-op play. Launches as a console exclusive in February 2023.

Return to Monkey Island

Guybrush Threepwood is back – and he is finally learning the secret of Monkey Island. Launching first for consoles on the Nintendo Switch this year!

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

After a few early leaks – we finally get some official news about Sparks of Hope! A quick look at new gameplay allowing the player to move in their set zone before using their weapon – bringing yet another layer of turn-based strategy! And this time Bowser is joining the team too! This game looks so good you could be fooled into thinking the Nintendo Mario team is making it. Launches 20 October 2022!

Another look at this gorgeous HD-2D remake. Plus, a Nintendo Treehouse presentation you can watch here. Demo with the beginning of 3 chapters available today (with save data transfer)! Launches 22 July 2022.


A spinoff all about finding distant fortunes, battling and making friends with friendly monsters. Launching 9 December 2022.

Portal: Companion Collection

Will there finally be cake!? Yup, the Portal Collection is available right now! Having never played these games – I can’t wait!


A brand new life-sim RPG – adds to the ever-growing RPG library on the Switch… Farming, cooking, crafting plus battling and levelling up. It’s a wonderful mix of all your favourite things… Oh, and a SEASON OF DEATH!? Launching 4 November 2022.

And lastly… Persona!

It finally happened. Surveys were finally seen. Persona fans rejoice – Persona 5 Royal, Person 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable are all coming to the Switch and you don’t have to wait too long either. P5R launches on the Switch on 21 October 2022 with the other two ‘Coming Soon!’
